Everyone here at St Stephen's Hull is delighted to announce the installation of 1,100 solar panels to the roof of our centre.
The installation will generate enough electricity to meet up to 35% of our centre's energy needs.
We've been trying very hard to slash our carbon footprint here at the centre. Over the past four years we have driven down water usage by 75% and cut energy consumption by 35%.
We have also, over the past few years, launched the first electric car-charging points in the region, and we are now working on a new food treatment process to recycle food wasted here at the centre.
Our Depute Centre Manager Tony van der Vliet says:
"Not only will the panels enable huge savings of energy within the centre, but will also showcase the centre's attitude in the most visual of ways. It is a testament to the dedication of our team to continually strive for best practice in reducing environmental impacts."
